Learners will be introduced to the basics of building for the web. There will be 3 main concepts taught in the course: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Course breakdown: HTML - 2 sessions Learn how to structure a website using the standard markup language of the web. Lessons will include information about building websites to accommodate screen readers and other accessibility tools. CSS - 2 sessions Learn how to style a website with the standard styling language of the web, Cascading Style Sheets JavaScript - 4 sessions Be introduced to the most popular programming language in the world. The class is structured in a logical way. We will start with learning webpage structure, progress to webpage styling, and finally to webpage interactivity. I teach by following an organized presentation while encouraging students to write code alongside me. I have 2 stopping points built into the lesson to allow for questions and interactions. This course is designed for complete beginners and does not require any prior knowledge.
Learning Goals
The biggest takeaway from this class will be that students will be introduced to how websites work. Students will be able to decide if they want to pursue web development and / or programming after being exposed to these concepts.
