This class will introduce students to the ukulele instrument and its history. Students will learn about tuning their ukulele using a tuner. Students will also learn the names of the strings through letter names and number names. In addition, students will learn about frets and proper finger placement to make chords. We will practice simple strumming patterns and hand placement used for strumming during songs. Also, students will learn how to read chord charts and tablature. At the end of class if time allows, students will learn one, simple chord and play an easy song. After this introduction class, I encourage students to take my Ukulele Beginner Classes 1-5 to learn chords, strumming patterns, and songs to play with their ukuleles. I also have additional classes - 1.Ukulele and Songwriting, 2.Reading Uke Tabs and Fingerpicking, 3.Show and Play, 4.Ongoing Ukulele Class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basics of the ukulele to help them feel confident once they begin taking classes to learn chords and songs.Other Details
