We delve into a wide range of topics, from the historical roots of theatre, tracing its evolution from ancient Greece to Shakespearean England, to the practical skills of acting, script analysis, and technical design. Students will learn basic acting techniques, including vocal and physical warm-ups, and explore character development through monologue writing and performance. The course also covers the essential elements of script analysis, teaching students how to understand plot, character objectives, and subtext. Furthermore, we provide insights into the behind-the-scenes aspects of theatre, including stage makeup, costume design, and stagecraft, utilizing digital tools for creative projects. The course structure is designed for independent learning, with weekly modules featuring engaging video lectures, interactive digital activities, downloadable resources, and audio and video examples. Students will reinforce their learning through digital project assignments, such as costume and stage designs, recorded monologues, and digital portfolios. I employ a supportive and encouraging teaching style, aiming to make theatre accessible and enjoyable for all learners. Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
My passion for theatre extends beyond performance, encompassing a comprehensive understanding of all facets of theatrical production. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Theatre Education, which has equipped me with a strong foundation in theatrical theory and practice, including acting technique, script analysis, stagecraft, and theatre history. My experience directing and performing in numerous productions has allowed me to develop a well-rounded perspective on the collaborative nature of theatre, from the actor's craft to the technical elements that bring a production to life.

I have also dedicated a significant portion of my career to educating young people about all aspects of theatre. I have taught theatre classes in various settings, including after-school programs, community theatre workshops, and summer camps, for several years. In these settings, I've guided students through the fundamentals of acting, script analysis, costume and set design, and the historical context of theatre. I aim to foster a holistic understanding of theatre, encouraging students to explore their interests in all areas of production. My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel empowered to discover their unique talents and appreciate the diverse roles that contribute to a successful theatrical experience. In this online class, I will bring this same passion and dedication, providing a comprehensive and engaging introduction to the full spectrum of the world of theatre
