This "Intro to Theatre" online course offers a flexible, self-paced learning experience, perfect for students eager to explore the world of theatrical arts. We delve into a wide range of topics, from the historical roots of theatre, tracing its evolution from ancient Greece to Shakespearean England, to the practical skills of acting, script analysis, and technical design. Students will learn basic acting techniques, including vocal and physical warm-ups, and explore character development through monologue writing and performance. The course also covers the essential elements of script analysis, teaching students how to understand plot, character objectives, and subtext. Furthermore, we provide insights into the behind-the-scenes aspects of theatre, including stage makeup, costume design, and stagecraft, utilizing digital tools for creative projects.
