Class Experience

Students will be learning what sociology is, how sociology relates to the world around them, and what sociological imagination is. The course will start with a brief overview of the origins of sociology and then dig deeper into its significance in society. There will be some lecturing, but the majority of the course will be focused on discussion. Student interaction with one another and the teacher will be highly encouraged. This class is ideal for high school students, but middle school students can also benefit from learning about how social interactions shape the world around them.

Learning Goals

Students will learn what sociology specifically is, how sociology relates to them on an individual basis, and how thinking sociologically can positively impact society.
