In this One- Time course, learners will be introuced to the classic story "The Gingerbread Man." Students love to learn and retell this adorable story time and time again! Students will be reading, singing the classic "Gingerbread Man Song" and discussing events in the story. In this course, I have recreated and retold "The Gingerbread Man" using fun, creative visuals and props. Students will be guided through a colorful PowerPoint Presentation of the story. Students will learn the classic story "The Gingerbread Man." Students will be able to identify the characters in the story as well as retell the story in detail. Students will develop reading, fluency and speaking skills throughout the lesson. Students will also creatively think and design with the use of after-class materials.
As an Elementary Teacher/ Special Education Teacher, I have years of experience teaching Reading and English Courses. I have experience teaching in-depth reading strategies as well as vocabulary development. Students will be developing fluency and reading comprehension as well as focusing on story elements and components. I am passionate about reading and love inspiring my students to enjoy reading as well!
After-class materials will be provided but not required for this course. When class has completed, materials will be posted in the classroom. Students will be provided with fun, creative activities to encourage after class story development. Students will receive the following: -Story Retelling (Two Formats) -Create a Gingerbread Man Template -Alternate Ending Activity -Picture Expression Materials will be provided in a PDF document. Examples are provided to assist students in their own creative pursuits. Students may need guidance depending on their academic level.
2 files available upon enrollmentAdditional Materials are provided and optional. Learners will receive a document (after enrollment) containing character props that may be used in class. Students may bring these props to class. These props are optional and are not needed to complete the course.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students are assessed through their verbal communication/expression during the lesson. An informal assessment is completed during class. Students completion of the after class materials are informal assessments that can be completed at home.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
There is no parental guidance required for this lesson. Students will be learning the story "The Gingerbread Man" through my own recreation of the story. Images and language are appropriate to the age range and learning content. This material is followed by School District Standards.
Students will be provided with materials at the time of enrollment. First, Students will receive the PowerPoint Presentation that they may look at prior to the lesson beginning. Second, Students will receive a document with character props (small and large) to assist in the learning process. Students may print and bring these materials to class to be more interactive in the lesson content. This is optional for students.
