Description

Class Experience

In this class, students will explore and learn about the various musical instruments in the percussion family. We will be looking at many different types of percussion instruments, including drums (snare drum, bass drum, timpani/kettledrums), pitched percussion (vibraphone, bells), various auxiliary percussion (triangle, cymbals, cowbell, woodblock) and latin percussion instruments (conga, claves). What do these instruments look like? How are they built? How are they used and played? We will...

Students will learn about the percussion family and percussion instruments. Students will be able to identify instruments by name based on how they look and sound. Students will also learn some basics about rhythm notation and will have the opportunity to perform and create some basic rhythms.
