Description
Class Experience
Students will learn six specific close reading strategies that can be applied to any narrative text, including: Contrast & Contradictions, Again & Again, Aha Moment, Tough Questions, Words of the Wiser, and Memory Moment.
I have taught middle school English and Reading for 15 years, and have experience teaching students of all abilities and interests. I have utilized the Notice & Note Strategies in class and have witnessed firsthand how they help bring readers to better understanding and deeper thinking.
A notice & note chart will be provided.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
We will be using concepts and strategies originally developed in the book Notice & Note: Strategies for Close Reading by Kylene Beers and Robert Probst.
