Class Experience

Students will improve their understanding of what is actually happening when we add, subtract, multiply and divide small and large numbers. When students leave this class, they should have a solid foundation for the basic four operations of math.
Ms. Sarah has a master's degree in education and Montessori certification, plus over 20 years of elementary classroom experience. She enjoys helping students understand abstract concepts using math materials that make sense to them and seeing those ah-ha moments when students grasp a difficult concept for the first time.
Montessori Stamp Game - May be purchased online for approximately $25 USD OR Everyday objects (about 40 each of 3 distinct colors) that can be used in place of the Montessori Stamp Game include but are not limited to: poker chips, beads, cardstock cut into 1 inch / 3 cm squares AND nine tokens such as buttons or coins for division. Math problems to be completed on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be posted in the Outschool classroom.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Parents are encouraged to watch my class YouTube videos along with their child and to supervise their child's use of the Montessori Stamp Game to ensure proper learning, especially if their child seems confused by a math operation. Please contact the teacher with any questions about the Montessori Stamp Game.

While YouTube is not intended for visit and use by children under 13 (and thus a non-COPPA compliant resource), Outschool has developed a way for educators to use YouTube videos in their classes in a legally compliant way. All educators need to do is add the YouTube link to their Classroom Post – Outschool embeds the link on its platform so that learners remain on the Outschool platform and don’t access the YouTube website.
