US Grade 4 - 7
Join me as we examine the very unique geography of ancient Greece and how it influenced the early cultures that would eventually become the powerful city-states of Athens and Sparta. This class will cover Greek geography and how it influenced early cultures over a 50 minute class period. This course will be taught using visual aids via PowerPoint in a lecture-based format. Learners will be expected to ask questions and discuss as a group the material that we are covering, so the discussion is also a critical element to the overall class structure. This is a very interactive class. During the 50 minute class periods, students should expect to answer questions to check their understanding and participate in class discussions. This is an introductory class. Students do not need to have any background knowledge coming into class. This class is one of four classes that I offer on Ancient Greece. The other classes are introductory, but when all four are taken they become a comprehensive examination of Ancient Greece. The classes can be taken in any sequence, however, the most logical order would be: 1. Introduction to Geography of Ancient Greece 2. Introduction to the Government of Ancient Greece 3. Introduction to the Golden Age of Greece 4. Introduction to the Wars and Fall of Ancient Greece
