Introduction to the Five Major World Religions

This class will introduce students to a major part of our world's culture: religion. Using an academic approach, we will define religion and discover what over six billion people call their spiritual beliefs. 

In this introductory class, students will discover the major world religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. They will study a brief history and learn about major tenets and practices, all the while comparing how they are similar and what sets them apart from each other.

This class will involve instructor-led discussion and short reflective exercises that will show comprehension. Students will be challenged to understand and theorize what many people consider their greatest motivation.
