Class Experience

In this class, we will learn the Spanish for beginners curriculum through interactive lectures where learners will have the opportunity to participate in class discussions and conversations with a partner, all in a relaxed atmosphere. Reading assignments and a list of the vocabulary and grammar for the lesson will be provided in advance. During the meeting, I use presentations with visuals and graphs as well as short videos to introduce the content followed by students centered activities such as role playing and games. Additional individual practice will take place during the week. Every week, I will assign a task to be completed for personalized feedback such as cultural videos and audio recordings with questions, oral practice and short projects. Learners will practice reading, speaking and writing. All instructional materials (video lessons and reading assignments) will be available through the Outschool classroom.

Meet the team

Sara M. Gonzalez
I am the founder and director of WeConnect. I am a native speaker and a certified Spanish teacher with a Ph.D in Spanish Literature. I have been teaching Spanish language, culture and literature for more than 10 years and would not change the joy of helping learners become proficient in the language. It is also very important to me that they enjoy the experience and consequently, much effort is put into making lessons didactic, varied, and memorable.
My pedagogy is based on research and classes are conducted in Spanish 80 to 90 % of the time with a progressive increment. My experience allows my to encourage mistakes as a normal part of the learning process as well as effectively correcting and guiding interactions. In my approach to language learning, I present grammar and vocabulary in integration with real life contexts and the Spanish culture, actively involving the students at every step.
I am also a Biologist (bachelors) and have taught Social Studies in bilingual contexts. I have served as a middle school and high school teacher from multiple capacities and have taught a variety of subjects that go from Science to the full spectrum of Spanish language courses.
More importantly, I grow and become a better teacher from every interaction with my students.
