This fun class is run over five weeks, learners will have fun and learn William Shakespeare in this fun class then test their knowledge with exciting escape rooms. Each week will consist of a video lesson which the children can watch to understand that lesson’s learning point, they will then use the knowledge they have gained to take part in online, escape room games. They will use the OutSchool classroom to support each other, and discuss their progress. While this class does not meet live, the children will still be expected to participate by completing the games, returning videos and photos of their progress and commenting on other’s contributions. Each week learners will need to join in class discussions to expand on how they used the learning point and how they have developed their own ideas. Week 1: This week we will start off by looking at Shakespeare’s life. The class will watch the learning videos and then participate in an online escape room which tests the new information we have learnt. Week 2: Week 2 is all about his plays. We will also look at the formula that Shakespeare’s plays took and how they were the basis for other stories. After the learning the students will have another escape room to support their learning. Week 3: This week we will focus on Shakespeare’s Theatre company and the famous Globe theatre. This week students will be able to share pictures and video of their progress. The learners will again, be given an escape room to demonstrate their knowledge. Week 4: In week 4 we will look at the Victorian Era in England and why this is so important when learning about Shakespeare. We will be transported to Victorian England and learn about the way Shakespeare influenced life so many years after his death. Week 5: In our final week we will look at how Shakespeare’s plays are still used and influence today. This week looks closely at modern movies that contain Shakespeare elements and discusses the idea that all stories stem from his work. Learners will play a final escape room to practice the things we have learnt.
