In my Introduction to Pre-Algebra Part 1, we reviewed the basics of Pre-Algebra- solving simple equations, whole number and integer operations, order of operations and graphing. For Introduction to Pre-Algebra Part 2, I plan to build on those skills and present higher-level problems such as solving multi-step equations, integer operations with 3 or more integers, order of operation problems using multiple operators and including exponents, and graphing linear equations. A power point presentation will be used to deliver instruction. Students will work independently to solve problems and will be encouraged to ask questions if needed. Volunteers will be asked to share their answers as we go along. At the end of class, students will have the option to participate in a quiz in game format which will review skills covered in the lesson. It is preferred that students take the Introduction to Pre-Algebra Part 1 course first (or have had some experience with the skills listed in this description). I will support and guide as needed.
Learning Goals
The objectives for the course will be for students to:
-solve multi-step equations (could include multi-step with negatives)
-add, subtract, multiply and divide in problems involving 3 or more integers
-simplify expressions using the order of operations using multiple operators and exponents
-graphing linear equations by completing an x,y table
These skills will help students build a solid math foundation as they work towards earning required math credits for their high school diploma.

Supply List
Students should have paper and pencil, as well as a notebook to hold on to their notes. It would be ideal for students to open a Quizizz account, in order to review problems in a game format at the end of class/outside practice.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials

I LOVE math! I love finding creative and interesting ways to deliver instruction while helping students build their math sense. After 25 years of teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2 to students with a variety of skill levels, including 5 years teaching online to students learning from home, I feel uniquely qualified to provide learners with the tools they need to become masters of mathematics!
