45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This one time class is a great introduction to piano for beginners! No piano, keyboard or experience required! Students will learn the layout of the keyboard, the musical alphabet, how to find “c”, what a note is and what rhythm is, and the way notes can move and sound on the piano. I will answer students’ questions about everything they’ve ever wanted to know about the piano. They will learn what the pedals are for, why there are black and white keys, how long can the keys make a sound. We will talk about (and mimic) animals that sound like notes on the piano - ex. Birds tweets are high notes. Lions roar is loud and low. This fun and highly interactive class is the perfect first stepping stone into a lifelong journey of music!
Learning Goals
Students will learn patterns of 2 and 3 black keys and the musical alphabet up and down the white keys. We will discuss high and low sounds, and loud and soft sounds. They will be able to identify Middle C on the keyboard, and then be able to find all the C keys. We will learn what Rhythm means, clap beats and count quarter, half and whole notes and rests.
Students will also have a chance to ask any question they’ve ever had about music or the piano.
