Class Experience

The students will learn about anxiety, how it influences them, and how to work with it to change their reaction.
This is a class that I have taught with groups in person. I have experienced anxiety myself, worked through it with my own children, and supported students I have worked with through these challenges. I am a life coach and have taken several courses, please see below. My background is unique in that I have experiences in the public school system, as a life coach, taken a variety of Professional Development courses on this subject, and am working through my Social Work degree.

Courses I have taken:
Counselling Skills I & II, Extended Education, University of Manitoba
Connecting to Youth: Aulneau Renewal Centre (Angela Taylor)
Working with Stuck Kids: Crisis and Trauma Resource Institute - Canada CTRI (Dr. Gordon Neufeld)
Mental Health First Aid: Mental Health Commission of Canada with MTS
Crucial Conversations: Manitoba Teachers Society (MTS)
The Eight Pillars of Executive Control (Dr. Adam J. Cox)
Resilient Kids - What makes a kid resilient and how can we create resilient kids? (Michael Unger)
Anxious Kids, Anxious Families: Strategies that Work for School and Home (Reid Wilson, Ph.D. and Lynn Lyons, MSW)
Mindfulness Training (Vikki Enns)
Neuro-Linguistic Programming
No homework, just the opportunity to use the techniques in their daily lives.
Bring a journal or a piece of paper, pen/pencil, and water.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The learner will assess themselves, knowing if the techniques work for them in their daily lives.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents may want to monitor whether they are using the techniques in their daily life.
