Description
Class Experience
Students will leave the course with a basic understanding of advanced neuroscience concepts: -Students will be able to describe the lobes of the brain and the function of each lobe as well as with an understanding of some specific structures such as the cortex, hippocampus, and more. -Students will know the difference between the central and peripheral nervous systems. -Students will be able to describe the basics of action potentials -Students will have a basic understanding of the following cell types: glia neurons, and microglia - Students will develop an understanding of the blood-brain barrier, cerebral spinal fluid -Students will be familiar with the cranial nerves
I have a degree from Penn State University in Science/Neuroscience, a master's degree in public health, and I will soon graduate with my doctorate. I have published more than 40 scientific research publications, many in neuroscience and neurodiseases. I currently work full-time at Penn State University, and I have been involved in neuroscience research for 8 years now.
Not required, but reading materials, discussion questions, youtube videos, and other material will be posted.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
