Class Experience

Students will be able to apply their knowledge to reading and writing sheet music and obtain a better understanding of melodic and harmonic structures.
Students should follow along with in-class readings and complete the quizzes on OpenLearn after class. If a student has an instrument, they should attempt to write their own music and play it (or have a performing family-member play it for them). Otherwise, students can use notation software such as or MuseScore and have it played back for them -- this will also help to solidify their knowledge. Students should spend an hour after each class applying their knowledge and doing the current module's quizzes.

At the end of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion from OpenLearn which will act as their final capstone.
2 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
