In this class, we will cover the basics of rhythms, reading notes, clefs, scales, keys, terminology, etc. These are individual lessons intended for learners who are just beginning to or have an interest in playing an instrument or singing.

Class experience

Beginner Level
Students will learn:
-Learn to clap, speak, recognize, and compose basic rhythms
-Learn about different meters, time signatures, & how to recognize them
-Learn about intervals such as whole steps, half steps, octaves, fifths, thirds, etc.
-Learn about dynamics and common musical terminology
-Learn to read notes on a staff in treble clef, bass clef, or other clefs depending on instrument interest
-Learn about key signatures & scales and how to write them
-Learn about the different instruments that make up an orchestra and other ensembles such as string quartets, etc.
Homework Offered
I recommend that students spend ~5 minutes per day reviewing concepts we discussed in the previous week's lesson or practicing the skills. Of course, more exercises and practice can be recommended if desired.
