Description

Class Experience

Students will learn:
-Learn to clap, speak, recognize, and compose basic rhythms
-Learn about different meters, time signatures, & how to recognize them
-Learn about intervals such as whole steps, half steps, octaves, fifths, thirds, etc.
-Learn about dynamics and common musical terminology
-Learn to read notes on a staff in treble clef, bass clef, or other clefs depending on instrument interest
-Learn about key signatures & scales and how to write them
-Learn about the different instruments that make up an orchestra and other ensembles such as string quartets, etc.
I recommend that students spend ~5 minutes per day reviewing concepts we discussed in the previous week's lesson or practicing the skills. Of course, more exercises and practice can be recommended if desired.
Learners will need a pencil and staff paper, which can be downloaded for free online.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
