Introduction to Music History: The Renaissance Period (Flex)
In this 10-week series of online, pre-recorded flex classes, students will explore music from the Renaissance period from research based around written and analytic assignments on topics such as Ars Nova, Franco-Flemish composers, and secular vocal music from England, France, Spain, and Italy, all taught within an online music class environment from the Music & Language Learning Center by Kristine Dizon.
Class experience
The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to music history from the Renaissance period. We will discuss how the transition between the Medieval to the Renaissance occurred through musical notation, polyphony modal theory, musical forms, composers, musical works, and cultural history.
