Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 9
Students will learn about how Museums acquire their collections, where they get them from and how to verify the authenticity through provenance. Additionally they will learn how the type of museum and mission of an museum impacts what they will acquire. We will examine various collections from museums throughout the United States and critically examine their mission and even identify the type of Museum (example: Open Air, Living History, History, Science, Children's). Museum collections that are examined will include the following and not limited to: Smithsonian Institution, Henry Ford, Kalamazoo Institute of Arts).
I will use Google Slides presentation, along with various video clips if applicable.
No prior knowledge is required, but always welcome!
Learning Goals
