Beginner Level
In this one time, introductory class, students will learn the parts of a standard light microscope (used in many classrooms), what they are called, and how to use them. Students will also view some example magnified images so they can familiarize themselves with the range of magnifications available on this type of microscope and calculate how many times larger the image appears. We will stop throughout the lesson to check understanding and complete a game and exit survey before leaving so all students know what they achieved and remembered.
Learning Goals
By the end of this class, students will be able to name the parts of a standard light microscope (used in many classrooms), describe how each part functions, and calculate how many times an image is magnified based on the types of lenses that are used.
