Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 3
Grasping the concept of math fact families is important in understanding the basis of multiplication and division. In this class, learners will be able to identify the four multiplication and division sentences for a math fact family. Math fact families show the visual relationship between three numbers. Three numbers create four facts, two multiplication and two division. For example: 2 x 3 = 6, 3 x 2 = 6, 6 ÷ 3 = 2, 6 ÷ 2 = 3. These four sentences are created from the three numbers 2, 3, and 6.

Using interactive and animated PowerPoint slides, learners will be engaged while grasping the concept of math fact families. They will be shown by example, then actively participate, as we build different multiplication and division math fact families. They will be able to produce the four math sentences for many math fact families. This concept will help them in solving multiplication and division problems.

Let's learn about multiplication and division math fact families. I hope to see you in my classroom!

Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Mount Holyoke College
Hello! My name is Erin Howard. I love teaching young learners. My passion is to help your young learner gain the knowledge and confidence in their basic math skills. My math classes focus on skills such as solving word problems, learning math fact families, place value, telling time, geometry, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

I have my bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College. I have owned a home daycare, privately tutored students in math, and was a teaching assistant in college. I have taught over 8,000 classes online.

My goal is to bring fun, excitement, and passion into my classroom. It is important for young learners to be engaged, actively participate, and enjoy learning. This builds the foundation of how they will view their journey for knowledge in the future. I know I have accomplished this goal when my students continue to return to my classroom, and I see their personal improvement and how proud they are of their progress.

Outside of work, I am a mother of five children, and I have three grandchildren. My children are my pride and joy. My youngest two children are twins. They are nineteen years old and they are sophomores in college. We enjoy cooking, baking, playing with our dog, watching movies, shopping, and taking trips to visit new places.

I look forward to this journey with you and your young learner. I will see you in the classroom.
