Introduction to Mandarin Through Stories and Songs

👩‍🏫 Miss Sophie is a teacher intern with Lemons-Aid, and she teaches book clubs and Chinese classes. She is studying Chinese at Baylor University. She has been immersed in the Chinese language since she was a toddler. Native Chinese mentors have told her she sounds like a native, so we are excited that she will be with us to offer Chinese classes to our Outschool learners.

💡 Karen Lemons, the Founder of Lemons-Aid, is certified to teach Spanish and was trained by Blaine Ray himself in the TPRS methodology of foreign language instruction focusing on mastery learning or language acquisition. TPRS stands for Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling. Karen could implement these strategies in her Spanish classroom and saw their powerful effect on student learning. We implemented this teaching technique here on Outschool with ASL classes; they were fun and popular with learners. And now we get to do it with Mandarin! This method makes these classes special, and you are in for a treat! With Miss Sophie’s expertise and Karen's passion for effective pedagogy, focused on learner outcomes, they have developed a series of courses for the summer that your learners will love.
