In this 4 week flexible schedule class, learners are introduced to logic puzzles and their role in developing critical thinking skills. The lesson covers different types of logic puzzles such as grid puzzles/deductive reasoning and riddles.

Class Experience

In this engaging and interactive class, you will dive into the world of logic puzzles and develop critical thinking skills.  Learners will learn problem-solving strategies and enhance deductive reasoning abilities. Get ready to expand your analytical capabilities as you tackle various types of logic puzzles and engage in thought-provoking discussions.

We will be taught the fundamentals of logic puzzles, including grid-based puzzles, riddles, and deductive reasoning challenges. Additionally, you will learn problem-solving techniques, how to analyze information effectively, and strategies for thinking creatively.

This is a flexible schedule class that has no live meetings.  Everything we do will be in the classroom.  I will add the puzzles in pdf that learners can print them out.  I will use a combination of instructional methods, including clear explanations, examples, visual aids, and hands-on activities. You will have the opportunity to actively participate in solving puzzles, engaging in discussions, and applying problem-solving strategies.

Monday:  Each Monday there will be a video lesson that is hosted on YouTube and embedded in the classroom. 
We will introduce the topic of the week and the assignments for the week. 
Tuesday/Wednesday:  There will be time to work on the puzzles and extend the learners critical thinking skills. 
Thursday: Check in and Questions and Answers
We will check in with each other to see how we are doing with the puzzles and assignments for the week.  Even though we have one day for check in, feel free to ask questions at anytime. 
Friday: This will be our review day and when assignments are due
Assignments can be turned in at anytime. 

Week 1:  Introduce the concept of logic puzzles and develop critical thinking skills. 
We will discuss what are logic puzzles, types of logic puzzles, strategies for solving the puzzles, have a logic puzzle challenge. 

Week 2:  We will develop learners' deductive reasoning skills and problem-solving abilities.
We will define/introduce deductive reasoning, how to analyze information, problem solving techniques, real life applicaitons of deductive reasoning.  We will also complete grid puzzles. 

Week 3:  Introduce lateral thinking and creative problem solving. 
We will take the time this week to engage in creative problem solving skills and thinking outside the box using lateral thinking riddles.  We will discuss what is lateral thinking and strategies to solve the riddles. 

Week 4:  We will continue developing our creative problem solving techniques.  
We will take the time to complete a variety of grid and riddle logic puzzles.  The learners will get to develop their own puzzles. 

No prior experience or specific knowledge is required. This class is suitable for learners of all levels who are interested in improving their critical thinking skills and enjoy puzzles and problem-solving.

Hello!  My name is Kellie.  I have over 15 years of experience teaching students in a variety of settings.
 I have continued to expand my teaching experience and explore new areas of interest. I have taught students of various ages and backgrounds, both in traditional classroom settings and online platforms.

I strive to create engaging and interactive lessons that cater to each student's unique learning style, fostering their confidence and love for learning.

In terms of my qualifications, I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood and a Reading Endorsement. My passion lies in teaching foundational skills, particularly in reading. I firmly believe that every student has the potential to learn, but it's important to recognize and accommodate their individual learning needs and pace. Beyond my teaching experience, I have a diverse background in agriculture and farming. My husband and I are actively involved in raising quarter horses for working cow horse competitions. I find joy in merging my love for agriculture with my teaching endeavors, incorporating elements of farm life and nature into my lessons. It's a unique way to engage students and broaden their understanding of the world around them.
