My goal is to create a fun, safe environment for students to get active and learn about a dance that is so important in the Latin culture. We will begin with an introduction ice-breaker game (with a dance twist) to get to know each other. Then, as a class we will very briefly learn where Salsa originates from and where it is danced today. After this, we will stretch and warm up to prepare for dancing. Next, we will learn how to count music and how this connects to dance. Lastly, we will learn the basic steps to Salsa, as well as a simple routine. As a fun closing activity, students will be able to participate in free dance time. Being at home for the large part of our time is our new reality. This class is a great way to get your student moving, as well as expose them to a cultural dance they may not learn otherwise! Students will have fun learning something new, and getting their energy out!
Learning Goals
My goal is for students to get moving, learn a new type of dance, socialize, and build their confidence through something new.
