Introduction to Keyboarding. Learn to Type Using a Keyboard Chart and Games!

This class is an introduction to my 8-week typing course, but can be very useful as a stand-alone class to begin mastering the keyboard. This class uses interactive slides (through nearpod.com) to learn basic typing skills. 

We will start by learning which fingers type on which keys (see color-coded chart upon enrollment). 

We will then learn the function of the following keys: caps lock, shift, space, enter/return, and backspace. We will go over the importance of pacing (using a metronome video). 

I will do a lot of demonstration on my own keyboard to teach good habits. We will learn to type the keys on the home row, then the top row, then the bottom row. 

Next we will do letter drills and word drills using interactive slides, verbal dictation, and computer keyboard games. There will be a memory game, funny jokes, and a mini quiz/contest to break up the drills, check for skill retention, and make the class fun and diverse! 

We will pack a LOT into 55 minutes! I will also let the kids know what can be done after the class to improve their typing skills on their own.
