For these classes, student will recognize basic Mandarin terms and sentences through the class learning. They will be able to use the correct tone and pronunciation. Class will help student to understand the basic stroke such as “heng” and “shu” and know how to write them. These classes will also help to cultivate the interests in learning a new language.

Learning Focus:
Week 1: Hello Mr. Sun 
Student will be learning how to do greetings. By reading together and singing together, student can recognize the basic greeting languages such as 你好 （ni hao)， 谢谢（xie xie）， 再见（zai jian），早上好 （zao shang hao），下午好（xia wu hao），晚上好 （wan shang hao）
Student will draw Sun to practice and enhance their learning. Reading will cover: 蓝蓝的天空 The Blue Sky（lan lan de tian kong）

Week 2：My Friends
Student will be learning Characters of 你 （ni），我（wo），她（ta），他（ta）
We will review greetings "hello". Student and teacher will listen the music. Students will practice and understand the movements of saluting ,shaking hands. Activities includes Matching and Guessing as well song learning. 

Week 3: What Color Is This?
Student will be learning Characters of color. 红 red（hong）橙 orange（cheng）黄 yellow（huang）绿 green（lv）兰 blue（lan）.
Student will be recognizing color by using traffic light game and short paragraph reading. 

Week 4: Counting the Numbers
Student will be learning the Characters of numbers. 一 （yi）1 - 十 （shi）10
In class, teacher will demonstrate the numbers by using gesture, the pronunciation drill and practices. 
The student will learn the target language through songs, in class game matching activities and sentence building. 

Week 5: Learning the Size 
Student will be learning  how to pronounce 大 (da)， 小(xiao)， 多(duo)，少(shao) and Fruits 西瓜 watermelon（xi gua）草莓 strawberry （cao mei），香蕉 banana （xiang jiao）
Student will be learning chinese song <little star>

Week 6： My Home
Student will be learning characters of family members E.g  爸爸 (ba ba)，妈妈(ma ma)，哥哥(ge ge)，姐姐(jie jie)，弟弟(di di) ，妹妹(mei mei)，爷爷(ye ye)，奶奶(nai nai)
Student will be drawing the picture of the family and describe their drawings. The student will be also doing the in class activities such as word matching and singing. 

Teaching will includes sentence teaching, character teaching and reading, writing practices by embedding game and activities such as guessing, matching, gap filling, and singing. The interaction between the teacher and students will be ongoing and throughout the whole lesson. Students will be given as many opportunities as possible to practice the target language in each lesson. 
This class is suitable for student who is Mandarin beginner. No requirement for previous learning experiences.
