*****Introduction*****

Did you know that the island nation of Japan consists of five large islands and over 6800 smaller islands? Or that the Japanese word for Japan ("nihon") means 'origin of the sun?' How about that Japan created many famous inventions such as the CD player, bullet train, and camera phone?

If your learner likes Japanese popular culture, such as anime, manga, and/or video games, then they will love this class. This class gives students the opportunity to learn many fun, interesting and unique facts about Japan on a wide range of topics. There are dozens of topics and tons of interesting facts, stories and trivia for students to discover throughout the lesson. Topics include a) anime, b) Japanese history, c) video games, d) Japanese culture, e) geisha, f) manga g) Japanese cuisine, h) karaoke, i) Japanese lifestyle, j) samurai, and much more.

I invite your learner to join me on a unique journey through Japanese history and culture as we gain deeper knowledge, awareness and cultural appreciation of Japan through an immersive multimedia presentation.

*****Class Format and Presentation*****

This class will include lecture, discussion and multimedia (i.e. audio, photographs, video clips). As students learn about new topics, they will have opportunities to participate in classroom discussions and answer critical thinking questions. There are also plenty of beautiful photographs and video clips spaced throughout the lesson to support student learning and enjoyment. This lesson format is designed to encourage and benefit student creativity, logical thinking and social skills.

After the class, all students will receive the class notes on the same day. The class notes will allow students to review all the topics and information from the class presentation. In addition, students will receive a digital certificate of completion, multiple-choice quiz and bonus activity. I hope that students will enjoy these extra activities very much.
