In this 4-week course, learners will cover a basic overview of the field of interactive theatre through interpersonal discussion and video clips. Learners will only need to bring minds ready to learn. At the beginning and end of each class, learners will play an interactive theatre game. Each opening game will introduce the learners to one another building a strong community. Each ending game will engage with topic of the day. Learners will also engage with the lesson in movement based ways...
Learners will gain a general understand of interactive theatre. They will see that interactive theatre is an umbrella term for many types of highly engaging theatre forms that accomplish a goal. They will understand there are many terms and definitions, many pioneers and forerunners, many methods and ways of going about this type of work, as well as many programs currently available for any one seeking to deepen their understanding and skill in this area. My hope is that learners will come away with a deeper appreciation for theatre as it isn't just a fun thing to see or do, but a useful tool in real world situations.
There will be no homework, however, learners will be expected to participate in discussion.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessment of engagement in discussion, asking questions, and being an active participant in the class.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
