Class Experience

In this one-day workshop, students will learn the art of performing improvisation in a virtual setting with a Chicago improv performer. We will cover the rules and basics of improvisation. First, we will discuss the rules of virtual improvisation, then we will play various activities so that students can practice their acting and improvisation skills. Students will be provided with a list and description of the games prior to the session so that they can be familiar with the activities before we begin. My teaching approach is laid back and student-centered. I will work with your student on the skills they need to be a successful virtual improviser. This is a hands-on performance class. Students do not need any prior experience, just a desire to learn.

Students can take this class once or several times, although the class content will be the same each class. Students benefit from playing each of the games multiple times. After this class, your student will be ready to join Comedy Club!

Learning Goals

Students will be provided with information on how to successfully perform improvisation in a virtual setting. We will discuss storytelling and story structure by playing a variety of improvisation games. Students will be provided with feedback and will further develop their skills in character creation.
