Beginner Level
This 5-week course provides an introduction to high school chemistry. The skills covered are ones that will be used throughout one's chemistry learning. We will go through Metric Conversions, Scientific Notation, Calculating Density, Converting Temperatures, Precision vs. Accuracy, Percent Error, Significant Figures, and Converting quantities to different units. Students will be provided with practice questions and homework activities to facilitate learning. Each class will follow with practice problems for students to practice on their own. I will teach using a whiteboard and slides and am always available for questions. Learners can message me with questions or we can set up a live chat if preferred. Course outline: Week 1 - metric conversions and scientific notations Week 2 - Calculating density and converting temperatures Week 3 - precision vs. accuracy and percent error Week 4 - significant figures Week 5 - converting quantities to different units (Each will have independent practice after class. Feedback will be provided on practice questions.) I am always happy to answer questions during and after the session. Welcome to my chemistry class!
Learning Goals
Learners will have the basics needed to continue learning high school chemistry.

I am a New York State certified teacher and have been teaching for over 16 years. Over the years I have taught 7 and 8th-grade science, High School Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, and Algebra. I have degrees from Boston College and Fordham University and am currently pursuing a doctoral degree from Stony Brook University.
You will find classes and tutoring from me on coding, math, and science, including ACT and SAT Prep. I also like to share my passions, so you may also see some quilting and crafting classes.
I believe that all students can learn, it's just a matter of finding a way to connect to them. In my spare time, I love crafting, quilting, and knitting.
