1. Introduction - I will be introducing what our lessons will be going over (hamster habitat, care, habits, and other cool facts!) (5 minutes) 2. Students will share one thing they know about hamsters. All answers at this time will be welcomed. (5 minutes) 3. I will show pictures of various hamsters kinds. Students will be informed that the first hamsters were discovered in Syria, though they also live in Greece, Romania, Belgium, and northern China. Students will be informed that in the wild, they like to live in warm, dry areas, like steppes, sand dunes and the edges of the desert. Students will be asked if they ever have seen desserts before and asked why they think they like sandy and dry climates? (7-8 minutes) 4. Students will be introduced to the idea of people having hamsters as pets in the United States. I will introduce them to hamster qualities that are inherited from habitual instincts from the dessert such as hoarding food, bedding, nocturnal sleeping. (5 minutes) 5. I will next talk about how to detect a hamster's mood by its body language, position, chirping, or physical attributes. ( 5 minutes) 5. I will next talk about healthy nutrient-dense food for hamsters. Hamsters can eat leafy greens such as dandelions and clover, but also tasty fruits and vegetables such as peas, carrots, and cabbage. (5 minutes) 6. I will talk about hamsters' physical attributes such as their teeth which get sharpened and shaved and groomed as they eat healthy greens as well as their fur which has natural oils that protect the hamster. During this time I will show pictures of hamster pouches that they have stored near their mouth. (7 minutes) 6. In the end, I will share videos and pictures of my hamsters and his behavior as well as funny hamster videos. Students will be asked what they can observe regarding hamsters' behavior. (6 minutes) 7. Students will be asked about one cool fact that they learned today about hamsters and will engage in a jeopardy trivia!! (6-7 minutes) 8. Questions will be welcomed at this time about hamsters, how to take care of one, geographical history, or habitat.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify what type of habitat and geographical location hamsters originate in. Additionally, students will learn how to take care of a hamster, hamster behaviors, hamster hobbies, dietary preferences, and physical attributes that aid in survival instincts.

Hi! My name is Sidra (Ms.Shafiq). I have been in the education field for a couple of years now. I currently am a first-grade teacher at a brick and mortar school. I hope to teach subjects math, science, social studies, and English for grades K-3. I currently have a Masters of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood (K-5) from Mercer University as well as a Bachelor's in Psychology. Outside of my teacher life, I'm a gardener, pinteresting some recipe, or making sure my first graders are on track!
My philosophy on education is to make it fun, engaging, interactive, warm, and encouraging. "Education must be perceived as a continuing reconstruction of experience" - John Dewey. Because of that, I can't make to make an impressionable academic memory for my future students
