In this one time class we will be delving into the world of geology. Exploring the foundations of geology: Rocks, Minerals, Fossils, and more. We will be covering the different types of rocks (Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic), how they formed, the rock cycle, and how to identify rocks. We will learn about gemstones and minerals, discuss the different kinds of gemstones, their matching minerals, how to identify those minerals, how minerals and gems are formed, and where they are found. Lastly we will learn about the general geology of the Earth, it's different layers and a bit about plate tectonics. During this course I will encourage questions and discussion between the learners to foster interest and creativity. This course is open to all learners, no prior knowledge or experience is required, but an interest in geology is encouraged.
