Class Experience

Please note that assessments completed during the summer months (May-August) are to place learners in classes for the Fall semester.
Assessments that are completed during October and early November will be for learners beginning in my November semester.
Since my classes are generally 8-weeks long, I complete assessments every 7-8 weeks to place learners in the next semester.

Bonjour!
If your learner has previous French language experience (either due to formal classes or because parents are native speakers) please book an assessment here. My availability is posted and I am unable to accommodate requests at this time. Please note that from experience, students who have only used Duolingo generally place in my Level 1 classes.

It is very hard for me to understand a learner's fluency level through a description of their experience alone. In this short meeting, I will meet your learner, get an idea of their experience with the language, their level of comfort speaking the language and make a suggestion on which of my classes is the best fit for them.

This is required if you wish to register for my classes Level 2 and up without having taken any of my previous classes. This is to ensure student success. If a student is placed in a level that is too easy for them, they might become bored. If they are placed in a level that is too difficult, they might become frustrated and discouraged.

Please note that the assessment might not last the full 15 minutes. Merci!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Samantha and I'm a teacher from Montreal, Quebec. I have been teaching online for over three years and have taught over 4000 classes! I specialize in language learning (English Second Language, French) as well as science and math.

I graduated with my Bachelor's in Education, with distinction, from the University of New Brunswick. I have a Graduate Certificate in Teaching English Second Language from McGill University and a Master of Education in Educational Psychology from McGill University.

I believe that learning should be student-centered, flexible, and fun. Students should be encouraged to explore and research and take control of their education. Learning, even when online, should be engaging, interactive, and hands-on.

I can usually be found making a mess in the kitchen, doing yoga, or reading a good book. I love meeting my friends to play board games and competing in trivia tournaments.

I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
