Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Ms. Britt. I graduated from college in 2008, with a degree in Elementary Education. I taught second grade for 9 years in a public school. I also taught Special Education for two years. In 2021, I pulled my 4 kids out of public school and started a homeschool co-op. I now run a tutoring business for families who want to homeschool, but don't feel fully equipped.
My favorite subjects are Math and Phonics. I love teaching with manipulatives, songs, and visuals. Too often, learning is stressful. When it's stressful, kids are not retaining and using information. They are simply trying to survive and get by. When learning is fun, information can be stored, used, and manipulated across subjects. My goal is create a love of learning that carries children through their lives!
So a little about myself....I have 4 kids who I homeschool. It's been the best experience of my life! I do miss my public school kids, but homeschooling has given me the opportunity to start the farm of my dreams. I have an apiary, which means I raise honeybees and collect their honey! I have ducks, chickens, turkeys, cats, and my absolute favorite.....my two Great Pyrenees, Boone and Lavender.
