Introduction to Fashion Design
In this 4 week online class, students will learn the fundamentals of fashion design. The skills learned in this course will allow students to create a mood board, fashion illustrations (croquis) and a mini-collection.

Description
Class Experience
-Students will learn how to create a mood board -Students will learn how to draw a fashion croquis -Students will develop an understanding of color theory -Students will learn how to create a complete and cohesive collection
Week 1 Homework: Complete Mood Board Week 2 Homework: Complete 3 Croquis sketches Week 3 Homework: Complete mini-collection with garments on croquis ready to present for Week 4
Required Materials: -Pencil -Paper (Printer paper or heavy cardstock is fine) -Fashion and Lifestyle Magazines (at least 3-4) -- save scraps as magazines will be used in week 1 and week 3 -Glue stick -Ruler (inches) -Eraser (as needed) -Poster Board or Shoe Box for mood board -Scissors -Colored pencils or markers Teacher Provided Materials: -All handouts - croquis example, mood board example, color palette examples, etc. -Examples of mini-collections for inspiration
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will be creating nude fashion figures, which are not detailed but vocabulary such as bust point and crotch point will be used. ***Cancellations and Student No Shows: If your student can't be there, please withdraw your student, or at least contact me prior to class, and I will withdraw them. If you want a make-up class for the one missed, you will need to go back to sign up for another class. I do not make transfers. I apologize for the inconvenience. Communication BEFORE class is key. If you let me know before class starts your student will not be there, they will be withdrawn, and you will not pay for the class.
