Introduction to Farm Life: Homesteading Club (Age 10-15)
Class experience
Welcome to "Introduction to Farm Life: Homesteading Club" This is a discussion based, on-going club designed with the student-first approach. I am here to help guide students who are interested in learning about homesteading and farming topics into meaningful discussions. During discussions, students will have the chance to share their experiences, thoughts, tips and tricks, as well as any questions with other students who also share similar interests. 1. First students will be able to...
Students will improve their understanding of homesteading topics and participate in discussion amongst their same-aged peers. These topics will include, but are not limited to: how do I get started?, what animal is right for me?, favorite animals, baby animals, raising animals for a homestead, the benefit of bee keeping, feeding farm animals, farm animal care, gardening, disease prevention and care, the use of farm animals, personal experiences, my goals, and more.
I live on a working homestead, where I care for chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, goats, turkeys, and geese. I have raised rabbits and quail in the past. I have experience working with pigs and sheep as well. I have worked with animals for over 10 years.
Paper and pencil for any notes the student would like to take during discussions Any appropriate homesteading-related photos that the student would like to share during discussions (optional) Any other homesteading-related items that the student would like to share on screen during discussions
Please be advised that there are topics that may come up during discussion, related to homesteading, that may reflect on butchering animals, loss of animal life, disease, injury, blood, and animal reproduction.
Sources will come from the life experiences of myself and students during discussions.
