Description
Class Experience
In this course, you will be learning about how to brainstorm ideas, create an outline, and then put together a five-part essay. Your descriptive essay will include an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
Writing is FUN, but I've seen too many students see it as a chore. However, writing is a skill that impacts a person's life long after school ends. Why not make it fun now? As for me, I love classic literature and I especially enjoy working with students to help them develop their own love of reading and writing. (So much so that I've made a career out of it!) While my English degree, registration as an IEW (Institute for Excellence in Writing) Instructor, TEFL, and TESOL certifications are important, I've learned more about creating a positive learning environment from my years as a homeschool mom and online educator. Learners learn better when having fun!
Each day you will receive a worksheet to fill out at home. These worksheets include the steps to help you become a stronger writer. By turning them in each evening, I am able to check for mistakes as they happen instead of waiting until your essay is finished. At the end of the week, you will complete a five-paragraph essay to turn in.
1 file available upon enrollment* Printer for daily handouts. * Pen/pencil to take notes. * Access to Google Docs or Microsoft Word
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Feedback will be given at the end of the week on the learner's essay.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Because we will be brainstorming ideas in class, I ask that all learners respect other opinions and keep conversations age-appropriate.
