Introduction to Drawing Skills and Techniques, Beginner Level

In this class students will be introduced to techniques and basic skills of drawing.

Week 1: Shading
Week 2: Contour Drawing
Week 3: Gesture Drawing
Week 4: Perspective Drawing
Week 5: Optical Illusions 

Class will include an explanation and examples of techniques and styles. Students will create some practice samples and then will apply what they have learned into a full page drawing. The subject matter of the drawings is in the hands of the students, the focus is on technique and style. 

I have a very open and flexible teaching style and encourage students to ask questions and discuss what we are learning. Students will have time to share their drawings with the class. Students do not have to finish drawings during class. I encourage everyone to take their time and go at their own speed. If they do not finish during class, students can upload their drawings to our classroom or share with us during the next class. 

Students do not need to have any prior knowledge.

Materials needed: Drawing pencils, Eraser (kneaded erasers are great, but if you don't have one, any eraser will do), a ruler.
