Basic ballet, jazz and modern terminology will be covered. We will discuss the similarities and differences within those styles of dance. In this class will begin with a warm up, then more into technical training before starting a combination or short dance phrase. Students will learn the basic foundations of dance technique and learn how to piece together general dance steps.
Homework that will be given will be vocabulary, video clips and research topics concerning the dance styles being taught.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will grade using an informal assessment.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Dance requires an ample amount of workout space. Make sure that there is enough room for the students to dance and that the area is safe from hazardous materials that they can step or run into. Make sure that the floor is not slick as well. Students will need to make sure that they are warmed up and that they have a bottle of water with them. Be at advised since this a physical course that parents monitor their children in order for them to stay safe. Injury is possible in this course just like any other sport, pulled muscles and ankle injuries are the main ones to be aware of.
