This is an Introduction to Business for middle grades, SEMESTER course. Students will develop a basic understanding of business in our economy. This course will cover a variety of business topics throughout the semester. Students will demonstrate their understanding of Business Essentials through class presentations, notes, worksheets, group and individual projects, group and individual presentations, research, videos, activities, and assessments. They will learn and develop skills of these subjects: Economic Basics Ethics Social Responsibility of Business Entrepreneurship Small Business Marketing Advertising Careers Communication Skills Leadership Skills Each of the following units will be covered in the 8 week classes. The first and last week will be introduction and closing as well as additional lesson time. Unit 1: Economics Basics Unit 2: Entrepreneurship, Small Business, and Types of Business Ownership Unit 3: Marketing & Advertising Unit 4: Communication & Leadership Skills Unit 5: Careers Unit 6: Ethics and Social Responsibility Students will be assigned in class work and some homework. I expect full participation and will provide each student a certificate of completion at the end of the course. I am a very interactive teacher with 17 years online teaching experience and over 23 years teaching business education online and in the classroom environment.
