Class Experience

Welcome to Introduction to Business! In this 8-week course, we’ll dive into the foundations of business, specifically covering:

1.	Customer Service
2. Business Management & Organization
3. Human Resources
4. Global business/E-business
5. Ethics & Social Responsibility
6.	Marketing
7. Money Management/Accounting
8. Entrepreneurship

During our first 20 minutes of class each week, we'll explore each of these topics (1 topic per week), discussing what they mean, how they apply to our world today, and how we can set ourselves apart in the business world. Students will engage with each other to brainstorm ideas, give encouragement, and learn to collaborate as a team.

During the next 20 minutes of class, we will view brief videos or internet research. We will also be reading snippets of various books (outside of class), which will be discussed during this time. Books should be available at your local library, but may need to be purchased. A list of all book titles will be posted to the classroom one week before class starts.

Our last 10 minutes of class will be tying up loose ends, asking/answering questions, and discussing upcoming readings and projects.

Speaking of projects, along the way, we will complete 4 projects/assignments that will help further our learning of business and how it impacts our community, our country, and our world. These projects will be discussed in class ahead of time so you will know what to expect and how to complete each one.

These assignments are graded, and will push you out of your comfort zone as you interview leaders in your community, research company scams, and more. We will share our completed results in class for further interaction and engagement with peers. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves and dive into these hands-on learning activities!

Students who successfully complete the course will receive a completion certificate and a final grade. It’s going to be a great ride, so let’s get started! 😊

PLEASE NOTE: This class requires at least 3 learners to continue. The class will be canceled if enrollment is lower than this. Parents will be notified 24-48 hours in advance. If this happens, parents will have the option of transferring to another section or receiving a refund.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: If a student misses the live class, a link to view the recording will be sent to the student the day after class.
