Class Experience
This is a one-time class. Students will dance with all of their body by following along with the teacher and exploring their own movements. (Parent or older sibling should be in attendance and join along for children who need assistance or encouragement to participate. Students will be able to: Dance in both personal and general space. Demonstrate a variety of axial movements. Demonstrate locomotor movements. Demonstrate the three levels of low, middle, high. Memorize and perform a simple movement sequence (beginning, middle, and end.
I taught dance since I was 18 yrs. old. I owned and operated a dance and fitness studio for over 20 yrs. where I taught special needs children. I hold a B.S. in Health and Physical Education, Concentration in Adapted with many dance credits. I have received an Autism Movement Therapy Level 1 certification. I love teaching children all subjects but love to integrate the arts! That's my strength. My times working with special needs children have been some of my most memorable and joyful moments in teaching.
Clothing which is easy to move around in or dance clothing. Bare feet, sneakers, or dance shoes. If scarves are available bring them to class. (Not mandatory.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
