Class Experience

This class is designed to introduce children, ages 5-8, to the world of Art History. Each week children will learn about two new artists or art history periods. Students will spend time creating an art piece that connects to one of the artists they’ve learned about that week. I will introduce the new artists and guide students through creating a corresponding masterpiece. Students will have the option to create an additional art project independently that corresponds to the lesson each week.

Students will learn about these principles of art:
· Value
· Contrast
· Composition
· Balance

This is a Flex class, meaning NO LIVE CLASSES. Video lessons with a project demonstration will be posted in the classroom each week. Students will interact by posting photos of their work and by providing positive feedback to their classmates about their artwork every week. I’m a compassionate teacher who loves to teach! I have taught Kindergarten for six years, and I’ve worked in public and private schools for the past 11 years. I have a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and I’m certified to teach Elementary education in California and Washington states. I absolutely love teaching art! I have taught this Art History class in private and public schools for students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. This class was always one of my favorite classes to teach each week. I’m looking forward to sharing this class with your wonderful little artist!
