In this introductory class students will learn all about the 8 basic types of architectural drawings; site plans, floor plans, roof plans, exterior and interior elevations, sections, and details. They will have a basic understanding of what each drawing represents, what scale it is drawn at, and what key elements to look for on each drawing. We will also cover how the drawings relate to each other and how they are used to create a building. The class will be an interactive lecture style including real-world examples, short videos, and slides. I will present the information in a fun and engaging way. Questions will be encouraged throughout the class, but will be required to be on-topic. This is a perfect class for anyone interested in architecture, interior design, construction management or design. Students will learn how to identify each type of drawing, what each one represents
Learning Goals
After this class students should be able to identify each different type of architectural drawing, the scale it is drawn at and the main features of each type of drawing.
Students will know how each drawing is used to convey vital information about the building from the architect to the designer.
