Class experience
US Grade 5 - 8
Evolution and its processes can be a difficult subject to explain to young learners, especially those unfamiliar with the larger subject of biological sciences. By the end of the course, students will understand evolution and the theories surrounding how it takes place, and be able to explain it with practical examples using Homo sapiens (modern human beings) and their direct and indirect ancestors.
Biological anthropology and evolutionary biology were major components of my Master's degree in Bioarchaeology from Tulane University. In fact, my Human Evolution professor was part of the team that recently discovered one of the "newest" human ancestors in Africa, Homo naledi! I'm passionate about the subject and fascinated by the stunning (and often weird!) life forms that result from natural selection and adaptation.
Supplemental materials, such as links to scientific articles, documentaries and educational videos, or other reputable sources will be posted after each class!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
