Class Experience

Hello! My name is Rachael (or the Doodlebugs Lady!) I am a wildlife biologist, former zookeeper, actor, life-long learner, and a mom. I have been a wildlife educator for over 15 years, and have been giving virtual presentations with my company Doodlebugs Animal Adventures for schools and libraries. I am excited to now bring these programs to Outschool!

Scientists are discovering new animals every single day! In this program, learners will meet a variety of exciting animals from different habitats. We will explore topics like animal adaptations, animal homes, and how scientists CLASSIFY animals. Throughout the program we will compare the animals we meet, discuss what animals they remind us of, and where we think they fit within taxonomy. The goal of this class is to introduce learners to the fact that taxonomy is fluid and always changing!
***Participation is encouraged but NOT required. I want every child to be able to enjoy THEIR learning journey in their OWN way. This program can be taken by itself or as a follow-up to any of my other animal classes (please note - there may be an overlap in some of the animals seen however the lesson focus and content will differ).

I believe "A curious mind can change the world" so my goal is to engage your learner and nurture their innate curiosity of the world around them. Every one of my programs promotes empathy and connection to the natural world and teaches that we can ALL be ANIMAL SUPER HEROES! I hope to see your learner soon; and remember...STAY CURIOUS!

Learning Goals

This program will have a focus on animal adaptations, animal needs, animal homes, survival, as well as an introduction to animal classification (Taxonomy).

Hello! My name is Rachael and I am the owner and educator here at Doodlebugs Animal Adventures! I LOVE teaching about animals and have over 20 years of experience in wildlife education. While I work with all ages/grade levels (even adults!) I specialize in working with learners ages 3-11. My teaching technique is a bit different from other wildlife educators because I use whole body learning to engage children as we cover a wide variety of topics like Adaptations, Animal Homes, Animal Classifications and more!

Each program includes 5-6 LIVE animal friends and is a unique blend of high energy entertainment as well as cool facts and concepts. My goal is to encourage your learners to use their big hearts and their big brains to explore the world around them, because "A curious mind can change the world!"

I hold degrees in Wildlife Management & Conservation BS, Wildlife Education AS, Exotic Animal Training & Management AS and even Theater Arts!

I absolutely LOVE what I do and can't wait to share my passion and excitement for the natural world with your learner! Thanks for visiting and remember...Stay Curious!
