US Grade 4 - 7
In this 3 week, student will get an introduction to history of flight, the forces that effect flight, and how aircraft are built to sustain flight. We apply these principles to basic airplane design, as well as we will discuss how aircraft technology has greatly advanced the design and function of aircraft. This course is taught in an interactive manner, using lecture, discussion, short video clips, and models to help students understand the principle of airplane aerodynamics. The course is taught in following the following schedule: Week 1: A brief history of flight & the 4 factors that effect flight. Week 2: Quick review of the 4 factors that effect flight, What is an airfoil, and Bernoulli's Principle. Week 3: Airplane design and aerodynamics.
Learning Goals
Students will identify the 4 forces that effect airplane flight, as well as learning about other concepts and ideas such airfoils, center of mass and Bernoulli's Principle.
