During this course, students will be guided step-by-step to create their own paper airplanes. Students will be introduced to the principals of aerodynamics to make their paper airplanes fly farther and faster. Students will use their hands to follow a specific set of steps both verbal, visual and textual prompts in a sequence (procedural text) to develop cognitive development and fine motor skills. Children set a goal and work hard to achieve a visible result while fostering a positive growth mindset. Students are transforming a 2-dimensional piece of paper into a 3-dimensional object while developing spatial awareness. Project will begin at the basic level of the four primary folding techniques, moving to creating medium level difficulty project. Students will need scissors, ruler, markers or colored pencils, and paper (8.5 x 11).
Learning Goals
Students will make several paper airplane designs and test how far they can fly following the principals of aerodynamics.
