Hi everybody! This is a one time abstract art class where we will create a beautiful piece of abstract art using the acrylic puring technique! This is an easy -to-follow-along class structure where I will creating a painting right along with the students and disucssing each step as we go! Students will be able to ask questions as we go and the class will be taught in a casual-conversation format. I am very excited to teach this class and look forward to seeing what you all create! See materials needed below!
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basics of abstract acrylic pouring. Since we are painting in a free-flowing, abstract form, this class will also teach students how to allow themselves to let go of control and trust the process. It is a way for them to express themselves and have a little fun!

Parental Guidance
Parental guidance/assistance is not required, but I do recommend the parent stay nearby for younger students just in case they need help with something. This is an easy to follow class so I don't forsee that assistance being needed but wanted to provide the option! Parents are welcome to sit in!

Students will need the following materials: 1 stretched canvas (can be bought from walmart, michaels, amazon, etc.) preferably an 8x10 or a 10x10. Acrylic paint - 3 colors of the student choosing Popsicle sticks or something to stir the paints (students will need 3) Cups to mix the paints - students will need 4 (I use paper cups but students can use whatever you have on hand such as empty yogurt cups!) A shirt you don't mind getting messy! A plastic table clothes, newspaper or cardboard to do your painting on top of! Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
My name is Lauren. I am a grad school student, nanny, and part time artist/writer! I work with children of varying ages as a caretaker as well as a teacher. I work with young ones on speech, occupational skills, physical activities, and self expression. I work with all ages on self expression as well. I have been a part time abstract artist for several years and believe that it is the truest form of art. I would love to work with your kids on using paint to express how they feel and just having some fun for 30 to 60 minutes! I want my classes to be a safe space to talk, laugh, and relax for a bit especially given the circumstances we are all living it right now!
